The
following is intended to help both current and prospective students
understand the academic and administrative functioning of the
College. The office of the Registrar would be happy to clarify
any point of policy or procedure.
Admission
The College will consider applications for admission to
its course from Orthodox students who wish to prepare themselves
for ministry in the Orthodox Church, missionary work, teaching,
other forms of church service or simply to be more familiar
with their Orthodox teachings. Eligible non-Orthodox students
may also be admitted and receive the academic diploma and
credit for their work.
Pre-requisites
Generally a pass in V.C.E. or equivalent is required. An
exemption to this may be granted to mature age students who
are over 25 years of age, provided that they satisfy other
requirements and can demonstrate an adequate level of competence
in English.
Other prerequisites as outlined in the “Application
for Admission”, the Student Handbook for that particular
year and in these regulations.
Application
Application forms and other information are furnished by
the College upon request. In addition to the completed application
form, the following documents must be submitted:
A completed enrolment form for each semester of study at
the College must be included. Students must be admitted to
the College before an enrolment may be effected.
A short essay in the applicant's own handwriting, which includes
brief personal information and reasons for wishing to enter
the College.
A recent passport size photograph.
Names and contact numbers of two referees who know about
the applicant's personal, academic and vocational qualifications.
Normally one of the referees should the applicant's parish
priest.
A non-refundable application fee of $25.00. Admission and
enrolment cannot be finalized until all payment of fees is
made.
Proof of Australian residency (e.g. passport, Australian
Birth Certificate, naturalization certificate)
Signing of the application and enrolment forms is evidence
of acceptance, by the applicant, of all the College’s
rules, regulations, policies and requirements, including attendance
and Code of Conduct.
Interviews
Applicants may be required to be present for an interview.
The personal and academic information supplied by applicants
both in documents and during the interview form an essential
part of the admissions process. Failure to make written disclosure
of information required or misrepresentation of the information
supplied constitutes a prima facie basis for denial of admission.
Where omission or misrepresentations come to light after admission
and are reasonably believed to cast doubt upon the student's
suitability for College study, he or she is subject to dismissal.
Registration
During the registration period at the beginning of each semester,
each student is registered for a specific number of subjects.
A late registration fee of $50.00 may be imposed after that
period. Changes in subjects or status of the student are permitted
only with the official permission of the College Council.
After the fourth lecture of the semester, no changes whatsoever
are permitted. Class attendance is obligatory, and each student
must fulfil an 80 percent attendance of classes to be eligible
for assessment in that particular subject.
